The ghost of Anne Boleyn is what Peter Underwood describes as a perambulating ghost it appears up and down the country in various guises. Many people who have claimed to see the ghost of Anne Boleyn have said that they identified the ghost as Anne because it looked like a portrait of her. BUT no one really knows what Anne Boleyn looked like as the only surviving portraits of Anne were done posthumously. Take a look at the following portraits of Anne Boleyn: Clearly they are not all of the same person which leads us to question whether ghostly apparitions in Tudor costume are automatically being assumed to be Anne if seen in a location that she was known to have visited.
