Hello I'm Grace Clairmont and this is the Part 2 of my interview with haunted doll collector Vanessa, if you haven't read the introductory part 1 it can be found by clicking on the link below:

Interview with a Haunted Doll Collector Part 1

I, Grace Clairmont, asked Vanessa the haunted doll collector the following questions:

Question 1: How did you get into collecting haunted dolls Vanessa?

Answer:

Through a friend, I was a member of a paranormal group, going on ghosts hunts, that sort of thing. One particular member always brought along a doll to the vigils, I assumed it was for use as a triiger object, but it was more than that. The doll's owner told me that it was a conduit vessel for a talented medium. It wasn't her only doll, she was a spirit keeper and had a small collection of other haunted dolls. I was invited to see them and as they say after that the rest is history.

Question 2: How long have you been collecting haunted dolls?

Answer:

About 10 years. My first doll came via my paranormal group friend, she advised me on care and how to communicate with them, then I started looking at haunted dolls for sale on sites like Ebay and Etsy.

Question 3: Which site is best to buy from?

Answer:

They're pretty much the same, in fact some sellers operate both an Ebay shop and an Etsy shop. Though if someone is looking for a cheap low entry level doll I think Ebay would be the best bet, I've seen some dolls sell for a around a fiver on there.

Question 4: £5! That sounds very cheap would it really be haunted?

 Answer:

Difficult to say really but I don't see why it shouldn't be.

Question 5: How can you tell if a doll is haunted or not?

Answer:

For me it's a feeling, a knowledge that the doll isn't just porcelain and cloth, that there's something more to it than that.

Question 6: Is that when you start to use the app we used to welcome Maria?

Answer:

Rarely, being honest Grace I'm not that keen on the technological ghost hunting type of electronic equipment that so many use these days.

Do you know some spirit keepers actually hang a ballon light round the neck of the doll?

If I was a spirit that would put me off wanting to communicate for sure!

Question 7: But you have an EMF meter etc isn't that for detecting ghosts?

Answer:

It can be useful but doesn't really mean anything, all sorts of things can set an EMF meter off, at the end of the day, same as actual ghost hunting,  it's more about the human experience.

Question 8: Feelings?

Answer:

Yes feelings, also things like slight temperature fluctuations, sudden thoughts popping into your head, syncronicities and dreams. They're all ways that spirits can communicate.

Question 9: So would I be right in thinking that you're talking about the clairsenses Vanessa?

Answer:

Yes that's right Grace, clairsentience, clairaudience, claircognizance, clairvoyance even clairalience.

Question 10:

But what if you don't have an psychic abilities?

Answer:

Everyone has some psychic ability Grace. It might take a bit of developing but it is there and everyone can use their psychic gifts if they choose.

Question 11: Do you have any suggestions as to how to go about developing psychic abilities?

Answer:

Be mindful, meditate, maybe take a course like I did or check out free resources online, search websites, YouTube videos, and there are lots of books out there.

Question 12: Vanessa you have a large collection of haunted dolls here, can I ask do they all get along with one another?

Answer:

They have to Grace, or they get re-homed.

Question 13: Oh I thought you said you gave the cats a forever home?

Answer:

Cats yes, they're my pets and I'll keep them forever, unless they show me that they would prefer to be in a single cat household in which case I will do my best to find them a suitable home. Human spirits, no, this is my home and despite the fact that I choose to share it with many spirits I want a peaceful environment so I re-home those that aren't happy here or can't fit in.

Question 14: How do you find new homes?

Answer:

I have re-homed haunted conduit vessels to people I know within the paranormal community. If that fails I offer them for adoption on Ebay.

Question 15: Oh so you're a haunted doll seller as well as a collector then Vanessa, I didn't realise. Would it be okay if I asked you some questions about selling haunted dolls ?

Answer:

Of course Grace, fire away, what would you like to know?

The ghosts of Nunnington Hall, North Yorkshire

Strange things happen in 17th Century Nunnington Hall situated on the banks of the River Rye in North Yorkshire. Now owned and managed by The National Trust a member of staff has assured me that Nunnington Hall is indeed haunted although not in a scary fashion. She found upon entering the building in the morning that lights, which she personally switched off, had been turned on and locked doors open. Lilette de Foucauld, a young French woman staying at Nunnington during the 1930's would probably not have agreed with my source. She found her sleep disturbed in the Panelled Room by something coming out of the wall over her bed. Moving to another bedroom restored her sleep! Visiting members of the public have commented on the feeling of something brushing against their legs at the top of the staircase. This is believed to be the ghost of a pet dog who plunged to it's death through the staircase railings. Visitors have also reported a smell of pipe smoke, glimpses of a hur...

Sarah Preston the ghost of Boston Stump a September Haunting

The ghost of Sarah Preston, who was blamed for spreading the plague that resulted in over 400 deaths in Boston, is a recurring ghost that is said to be more active during the month of September. Sarah lived in a cottage in the shadow of St Botolphs church in the Lincolnshire town of Boston, the principal port of England in medieval times, and it here, in her husband's absence, that she entertained a sailor  who, unbeknown to Sarah, was carrying the plague. Guilt stricken, Sarah Preston climbed the 365 steps to the top of St Botolph's tower, known as Boston Stump, and committed suicide by leaping from the top. Sarah's ghost has been seen to jump from the top of the tower only to disappear before touching the ground. Hannath Hall

Hannath Hall, a private dwelling in Tydd Gote near Wisbech has a long history of paranormal activity. It's an Elizabethan manor house, formerly known as Sparrow's Nest until purchased by Josepth Hannath in 1812. Legend tells that when Joseph's wife died he became deranged and refused to allow the body to leave the house. For two months Joseph Hannath kept his wife's body in her bedroom and insisted that her meals were taken to her.  One poor maid was driven to suicide by this madness and it's believed to be her ghost that has been seen walking the corridors of the house. Eventually Joseph allowed his wife to be buried, under a chestnut tree in the garden. But some say that thereafter no-one could sleep in the bedroom where the body had been kept. Fast forward to 1957 when a Peterborough journalist has car troubles near Hannath Hall. The then owners, Derek and Catherine Page (Derek Page went on to become the MP for Kings Lynn) invite him in and inevitably ...
